Read, Write, Imagine!

Students attending participating Cavalcade of Authors schools are invited to submit short stories to the 2012 Cavalcade of Authors Short Story Contest.

1st Place ~$40 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble

2nd Place~$25 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble

3rd Place~$15 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble

In addition, each winner will receive an autographed book from one of the Cavalcade authors. Winners will be published on the Cavalcade website with students’ permission.


SUBMISSIONS
  • Contest Deadline is January 18th, 2012.
  • Submit 2 copies to your school librarian.
  • The 2 best stories from each school will be judged by an independent panel of judges.
  • Winners will be announced March 9th, 2012. Winners not attending Cavalcade will be notified by their librarians.
CONTEST RULES
  • You must be a student at a participating Cavalcade of Authors school.
  • Short stories must be no more than 1000-1500 words.
  • Story must be the original work of the entrant.
  • Story must meet the format guidelines.
FORMAT GUIDELINES
  • Submitted stories must:
  • Be no more than 1000-1500 words.
  • Be double spaced, 12 point Times New Roman font.
  • Include in the upper left hand corner, your name, the name of your school, your grade, and the name of your librarian.
  • Center the title two lines below your contact information.
  • Include in the upper right hand corner the approximate word count of the story.
